Raktisar Trek

A high mountain journey from Niharni through forest camps and alpine meadows to the glacier landscape of Raktisar.

Day 1 · Sainj to Shakti

Drive to Niharni, then trek to Shakti and camp for the night.

Day 2 · Shakti to Karached Tharch

Trek to Karached Tharch and camp.

Day 3 · Parkachi Meadow

Continue to Parkachi Meadow and camp.

Day 4 · Raktisar

Trek to Raktisar, around 4,000 metres, and camp in the glacier area.

Day 5 · Explore Raktisar

Explore the area and, if conditions allow, attempt the high point. Camp at Raktisar again.

Day 6 · Return to Parkachi

Retrace the route to Parkachi Meadow and camp.

Day 7 · Maror

Continue to Maror and camp overnight.

Day 8 · Return to Sainj

Trek back to Sainj.

Walk beside the river and through forest to two remote mountain villages, with a day to explore around Maror.

Drive to Niharni, then trek to Shakti village. Camp overnight.

Day 2 · Shakti to Maror

Trek to Maror village and camp there.

Day 3 · Explore Maror

Explore around and above Maror, then return to camp for the night.

Day 4 · Return to Sainj

Trek back to Sainj.

Bunga Trek

Climb from Deori to the Sarikanda viewpoint, then continue to the quiet high meadows of Rach Thati and Bunga Thach.

Retrace the route to Deori, then drive back to Sainj.

Dhel Trek

Journey from the Sainj River to Dhel’s high meadow, with time to explore the landscape and look for wildlife.

Day 1 · Sainj to Shakti

Drive to Niharni, then trek to Shakti and camp.

Day 2 · Shakti to Bhered Nala

Enter the Great Himalayan National Park, cross the river, climb toward Khanjulu, then continue to Bhered Nala to camp.

Day 3 · Bhered Nala to Dhel

Trek to Dhel and camp for the night.

Day 4 · Explore Dhel

Explore for wildlife and views. If conditions allow, attempt the high point, around 3,700 metres. Camp at Dhel again.

Day 5 · Return toward Bhered Nala

Trek back toward Bhered Nala, or continue to camp near Khanjulu, depending on the route and conditions.

Day 6 · Return to Shakti

Continue to Shakti and camp overnight.

Day 7 · Return to Sainj

Trek back to Sainj.
